
The credit awards are designed to inspire the credit management profession and to showcase excellence and innovation in the field of magazine credit and financial management.
Six awards will be presented at a lunchtime ceremony following the Magazines credit managers’ seminar at PPA’s prestigious Magazines 2008 event, taking place on Wednesday 7 May at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London.

Magazine credit manager of the year
Individuals must work in the accounts department of a consumer, business, customer or interactive magazine publisher and should have managerial responsibility for staff or credit policy. Applicants should be able to demonstrate excellence in at least three of the following: implementing a credit policy or procedures; Systems management; Management of debt recovery and collection process; Staff management, training and motivation; Effective communication skills; Effective dispute & query resolution skills; Working towards or having achieved a credit qualification and Industry knowledge.
Magazine credit controller of the year
Individuals must work in the accounts department of a consumer, business, customer or interactive magazine publisher. Applicants must be able to demonstrate excellence in at least three of the following: Good communication and collections skills (telephone, fax, email); Interaction with other departments or clients to improve credit control; Improvements in ledgers and debt collection; Achievement of targets; Interest in developing legal and technical knowledge and effective dispute & query resolution skills.
Magazine credit team of the year
Teams must operate in the accounts department of a consumer, business, customer or interactive magazine publisher. Nominations for the award should be made by managers or heads of magazine credit/accounts departments, such finance/accounts managers and financial controllers/directors. The application must demonstrate excellence in at least two of the following areas: Teamwork skills within own team/department and with other departments; Good communication and collections skills (telephone, fax, email); Effective dispute & query resolution skills; Ability to deal with and respond to changes and Achievement of targets.
Magazine credit supplier of the the year
The company has to offer a product or service, such as debt collection, software, credit information, legal or insolvency advice, or training that assists magazine credit departments. The application must demonstrate excellence in at least two of the following areas: Achievement of targets; Evidence of support of clients’ credit control over the last year; Proof of good working relationship with client; Evidence of customer training and ability to pass on knowledge to client and good communications/feedback skills.
Agency accounts payable team of the year
Nominations for the award should be made by managers of heads of advertising agency media payables departments, such as financial controllers/directors, or magazine credit control departments. The applicants must demonstrate excellence in at least two of the following areas: Good communications skills; Ability to solve and respond to queries promptly; Ability to keep customer accounts up-to-date, Proactive approach to dealing with and solving magazine publisher queries; Improvement in payment performance to magazine publishers (testimonial required) and Provision of detailed/timely/accurate reconciliations.
Agency accounts payable employee of the year
Individuals must work in the media payables department of an advertising agency. Applicants must be able to demonstrate excellence in at least two of the following: Good communication skills; Achievement of payment terms; Provision of reconciliations and statements to publishers on a monthly basis; Awareness of internal systems and of the media industry in general; Demonstration of timely response to queries and early warning given of their existence.
